EVENTFUL SPAIN

This 5 day 4 night holiday in Spain was a much needed getaway from the hustle and bustle of London. I was just ready to get out of London and enjoy my time out there. I've never been to the North of Spain but I was excited to experience the culture and looked forward to our jam-packed holiday that was planned.

Landing in 30 degree weather and dehydrated was not fun, I wasn't use to this because London is always doom and gloom with the occasional sun. Nevertheless, I remember cruising up the mountains into a small authentic Spanish town - Cariño and thinking this is what you see in the movies! I absolutely adore scenic places, this place was surrounded by lush green mountains, crystal clear waters, palm trees and so much more. Festivities also engulfed the town with everyone coming together to celebrate La Virgen del Carmen. We bar hopped all day long and eventually settled down for dinner and danced the night away in the streets.

The most enjoyable day was when we got to see what the town was really about. They had a mixture of sand and pebble beaches. I prefer sand beaches over pebble beaches and the one we went to had the softest sand I have ever felt, I could literally lay there all day and soak in the sun. The day just got better as the icing on the cake was The Miranda viewpoint overlooking Ria of Ortigueira and the Lighthouse of Cape Ortegal, which were simply breathtaking. I have never seen anything like it and as a sucker for nature, I was in utter awe. I highly recommend these 2 places if you are just like me. This was definitely a highlight of the trip and I will always remember it (I managed to take a few pictures before my phone died).

We also did some camping. Now, I'm not a camping girl but I thought why not try it? and I have to say it really isn't my thing (maybe glamping?)... the camp was beautiful but it just needed more toilets and showers and a bigger tent. Besides camping, the main event was the Ortigueira Celtic Festival which was absolutely amazing. I had enjoyed the first night more than the second, I guess it was all the adrenaline pumping through my body because of the atmosphere and the music was more upbeat. I also picked myself up a little bracelet to remember this trip.

Lastly, we made our way to Santiago de Compostela where we bar/tapas-hopped and it was seriously the most amazing tapas I have ever eaten, it was the best way to end this holiday! It was a shame that Santiago de Compostela Cathedral was being refurbished because I really wanted to get some pictures with it.

If you enjoy a holiday that's like this then certainly come here during June when festivities are booming. Galician people will show you how to party the night away. If you prefer the quietness, rest assured, you can still enjoy the serenity and beauty of this small little gem of a town.
