KOREAN SKINCARE

Skincare is something that I’ve constantly seen when growing up all thanks to my oldest sister. She would always say ‘skincare is expensive but worth every penny’ and I just took it in and that was about it.

Fast forward to 25 year old me and do I love skincare. It started at the end of secondary school entering into college where I started to get into skincare, especially Korean products. From learning about my skin type (combination skin), I started to buy products catered for my skin. From gel type creams to serums, toners, emulsions, ampule, essence, exfoliants and masks (sheet, clay, foam etc.)

The brands that spring to mind and I would say that I love would be Skinfood, the Saem, Innisfree and Tony Moly.

Skinfood - I find that most of their products work well with my skin, at the moment I'm using their Lettuce and Cucumber Watery Toner, their Fresh Apple Sparkling Pore Emulsion and Black Sugar Scrub Foam. I wouldn't purchase the toner and emulsion again because I don't feel like it drastically helps my skin so I would most likely try something else. The Black Sugar Scrub, however, is a staple and highly recommended and raved about in the skincare community. Their pretty packaged sheet masks are also great, I love how it makes my skin look and feel!

The Saem - I have used their emulsions, essence and serums. I often see the results when I wake up the next morning after applying them at night. My skin is soft, hydrated and glowy, it feels like the product really works deep within the skin. Their face brightening SPF is also great, it's got a thick-ish texture to it but unlike most sunscreens with that nasty texture, it's more of a thick cream that melts into the skin really well and most importantly it mixes seamlessly with makeup.

Innisfree - Emphasised by their green and earthy colours for their packaging, Innisfree is an all-natural brand which I’m really happy about. I've mostly bought their creams and a lot of their cleansing foams. Currently, I have the Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask and the Jeju Volcanic Pore Cleansing Foam on my shelf which I'm excited to use once I finish my Black Sugar Scrub and I'm wondering whether it will be on par with this scrub or not!

Tony Moly - I've bought packs of their sheet masks and I love their packaging, but I do have to mention that the masks have a strong smell to them so if you're sensitive to smell I wouldn't recommend buying these. But Tony Moly does have a variety of masks to pick from which is a plus. I'm also finishing their Pure Eco Snail Moisture Gel which is good for hydrating my skin, I tend to apply this on at night and can see results in the morning. However, I do have a slight allergic reaction on the neck so this might not be suitable for sensitive skin.

I see so many Youtubers and bloggers raving about Korean skincare/makeup and it really is something worth spending your money on! After finding, experimenting and sticking with Korean products that I know really benefit my skin, I've literally never looked back or at others! Their skin technology is so advanced and they're constantly pushing out products better than the next (most of the time). I love hearing/watching what the new skincare is out on the market, what's the most popular product out now and what product is good for what season. I tend to buy all my skincare products on Yesstyle because I feel like no other online shop do it as well as them even though you have to wait a million years for the products to arrive.

I would say that the only product I have yet to find is the 'perfect' eye cream. Currently, I am using the Gold Snail Hydrogel Eye Patches as an alternative which is good for brightening up the under eye area.
